MY THOUGHTS ON "NO MORE FOUR YEARS"

"NO MORE FOUR YEARS"

THE INFAMOUS SLOGAN

Listening and reading about potential candidates for the Presidency, the infamous slogan,  "NO MORE FOUR YEARS," and as always -- the reason being-- the ECONOMY--the issue.  Like past potential second-term Presidents, the opponents always started with -- "NO MORE FOUR YEARS" - and as in the past -- the ECONOMY-- A RECESSION.

No one ever bothers or even try to comprehend that THEIR STATE -- EACH AND EVERY STATE -- makes up the ECONOMY.  And it begins and ends with their budgets

The Budget

When each state does their budget, they project or should project what the expenditures will be.  Let's go to my State, New York.  Did they project Hurricane Irene?  The rising cost of Peanut Butter?  The increase in transportation, tolls, etc.?, and a lot more..which is a consumer's burden.  Every summer, the Environenmental Protection Agency sprays locations, within the five boroughs, to prevent West Nile??--was that projected?

Just like in our personal, individual lives, we come upon UNEXPECTED, UNAVOIDABLE expenses--we are all in a RECESSION--every time we window shop.  Unexpected sales, and NO RAIN CHECKS.  No control over increased products -- Peanut butter, for example, the weather was bad, and the peanuts crops were damaged, thereby, burdening the excess cost on the consumers.  If coffee, or any other product, is slated as "good for your health," the prices INCREASES.  The consumers, must pay the "Piper" -- like it or not!!

Hurricane Irene, with its flood, was an unexpected expenditure, just like the drought in Texas.

LEGISLATION

Senator Schumer wants to legislate a "Bill Of Rights" for Long Island commuters -- when there are train delays, etc.  -- they have the right to be made aware of the trains schedules, problems, etc.-- AND THEY DO!  Instead of legislating a BILL OF RIGHTS, which will cost money, why not EMULATE NEW YORK CITY'S TRANSIT "BILL OF RIGHTS" -- everybody else seems to be copying us, anyway--and we are within the STATE--at every subway stop -- let's say the express trains (I only take the Lexington Avenue lines --4 or 5), there are indicators (amber signs) {let's do City Hall/Chambers Street}--No. 4 - "10 minutes," No. 5- "8 minutes" - No. 6 - "2 minutes" -- and a message if the trains, whether in Queens or Brooklyn, are delayed because of "a sick passenger" -- and sometimes that delay is about 10 stops away, but will affect all stations-- or another sign might read "be careful of your belongings," "the police might randomly search your bag," "no one has the right to rub against you (offensive manner) -- tell a MTA employee or police," etc.  It's really  a TERRIFIC New York City's Transit BILL OF RIGHTS.

THE ECONOMY

All these things, that are needed, adds up--the consumer pays -- ECONOMY becomes a burden, etc.  The ECONOMY IS A STATE-BY-STATE ISSUE.

Within each state, there are the localities -- New York City, boroughs.  Each municipal elected official, with a governing title, e.g., mayor, Governor, etc., do our budgets that befits us--consumers, residents, et.al.,-- and within their first terms, if the jobs they were elected to do, was or could not be fulfilled -- they run for a second term -- to get the first term right.  In New York City, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, ran and won three successful terms, and the third term, a squeaker (five votes), was done via the City Council--New York City only had two-terms Mayors--but Mayor Bloomberg wanted to turn the ECONOMY around--A CITY WITH FIVE BOROUGHS.   And speaking of the City Council, in the year of the Mayor, 2002, it was voted that the Council will serve no more than two (2) years - one term -- now, it's been just as long as the Mayor's.

ENTITLEMENTS

My biggest PET PEEVE is the COURTS--BRONX, THE SOUTHERN DISTRICT -- THE COURTS--THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM (gate).  You have to go through your municipal court, to get to Federal--they are in a sad state.  What we need is a CONGRESS to look into these matters.  If the courts can, first, enact their own Bill of Rights, and adhere to them, as well as the laws, with the Senate's help, the ECONOMY would probably not be so bad.  For example -- Welfare/Medicaid, etc., $33.00 is taken out for a phone, and as one State administrative law judge told me, "we take $33.00 out whether you have a phone or not,"-- YOU CANNOT BUY COFFEE OR ANYTHING HOT with food stamps (so, who is pocketing that money?--the uncounted Census Bureau persons).  The consumers pay, because this 'Judge' broke the law -- Fifth and 14th Amendments -- deprivation.--and someone is receiving stolen retroactive entitlements, (ECONOMY).

A presidential candidate quips that social security is a get rich quick scheme (it was enacted by President Roosevelt to help the wives of servicemen, who was serving our country, as a supplemental income).  There has not been a cost-of-living increase for social security recipients, since 2009, because Congress, voted it down, yet, there was an influx of fraud, or imminent, from retired law enforcement and overpayment's.  This was caught by the federal government (and social security deals with 50 STATES and common-wealth), and Welfare (on the City and State levels) cannot detect FRAUD in their own municipality -- the consumers pay -- ECONOMY -- RECESSION.

TAXES

TAXES--New York City/State had the audacity to have an EXCISE (HATE TAX)-- CIGARETTES--so let's be fair about this -- LUXURY TAX -- Boats, Helicopters, Airplanes, Foreign Cars, Hotels, etc.

THE COURTS

Perhaps instead of depending on Congress, who does flip-flops at the Country's expenses, the Courts should be involved to ensure that these legalisation's/rules/laws are enacted.  Just as Congress enacted in 1990, to enlist the Secret Service Agency's help in electronic filing fraud, and the federal level can root out fraud -- the COUNTRY--each State should be able do the same -- THE ECONOMY.

OFFICIALS SEEKING RE-ELECTION

If Governors, Mayors, Public Advocate, Assembly members, Congress, Senators, City Council Members, Comptrollers, Judges, District Attorneys, et.al., can elect themselves to run for second and third terms -- what's wrong with the Commander-In-Chief, President Barack Obama?  He hasn't reneged on his promises -- Bin Laden is dead; he promised and delivered his health bill (which Congress is STILL trying to kill, after its passage), the Economy (State-by-State issue), to name a few, what is wrong with continuing what he started?  Do you really think that FOUR YEARS IS ENOUGH TIME TO DEAL WITH THIS COUNTRY, AND FOREIGN AFFAIRS ISSUES, and you Municipalities--City and State--need another term (NYC - three terms), to finish what you set out to do for your State?  WHAT'S THE POINT! and WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE?

Thank you!

LILLIAN ANN MACK, PRO-SE
